5 Defensing Driving Tips for every New Driver
Learning to drive can take its toll
on an individual. It does require a couple of weeks before your hands and legs
subconsciously learns to synchronize the movements of brake, clutch,
accelerator and gear. Apart from that, the driver also has to keep an eye on
the traffic. With so much to focus at a single moment of time, driving a car
seems a tiring work. However, your aim should always be to derive pleasure from
driving. In this post, we will outline five defensive driving tips that every
individual should keep in mind to ensure safe and pleasurable driving.
1. No cell Phones and whatsapping: - Using cell
phones while driving is banned in most developed countries. However, people
still feel compelled to reply to their text messages even if they are driving
the car. If an urgent situation arises, simply pull over the road, turn on the
indicators and then use the cell phone.
2. Keep some distance: - Keeping
some distance is always a good habit. There are chances that the vehicle ahead
of you might apply sudden brakes. The distance will allow you to not ram your
vehicle into the vehicle ahead of you. Always ensure a good 3 -5 meters of
space between the vehicles.
3.
Never take
your seat belt for granted: - There will be times when you will
not bother to put on your seat belt. However, according to our experience, seat
belt can be a life saver. Thing about this situation in a way; while you are
seating inside your car looking to start your engine, a random vehicle out of
nowhere rams into your car. If you and your family members are unbelted, you
can get fatal injuries, all owing to the recklessness of some driver.
Therefore, how much confident you are, you still cannot be sure about the
competency of other driver. Therefore, always put on your seat belt before
turning on the engines.
4.
No
overtaking if you are not sure: - Learning to overtake does require
some sort of guidance before you can do it confidently yourself. However, there
are times when you will not be able to gauge the speed of the incoming vehicle.
We strongly urge you to not takeover a vehicle if you have even an iota of
doubt about overtaking the vehicle safely.
5.
Learn to
check the behind part of your vehicle manually: - Rear
Mirrors are very efficient. They do provide ample amount of view for the behind
vehicles. However, there is a certain blind spot just behind your own car where
you cannot spot the vehicle. Not able to see it while overtaking can lead to
dangerous accident, especially if both of you are trying to overtake. Always
check manually by turning around to see any vehicle in the blind spot.
